Charleys Philly Steaks founder and CEO Charley Shin tasted his first Philly Cheesesteak back in 1985 while attending The Ohio State University. As a young undergrad with an appetite for success, Shin knew he wanted to share this sandwich experience with others in a big way. After experimenting with countless ingredients and perfecting his recipe, Shin turned his entrepreneurial dreams into reality in 1986 when he opened his first restaurant called Charley’s Steakery, a 450-square foot space near The Ohio State University campus. With the support of his mother, Charley’s Steakery became an instant hit with college students who craved the made-fresh Philly Cheesesteaks, loaded Gourmet Fries and all-natural Lemonades.
As the customers (and rave reviews) rolled in, Shin worked on a growth plan. In 1991, Charleys started franchising with like-minded partners to share the Philly Cheesesteak love. In 2002, Charley’s Steakery became Charley’s Grilled Subs, putting emphasis on our “grilled-fresh-in-front-of-you” transparency. In 2021, Charleys Cheesesteaks is serving our favorite cheesesteaks, fries, and real-fruit lemonades at every Charleys. Select locations also serve classic and boneless wings, fried appetizers, and frozen sweet treats.
No matter the name, we’ve stayed committed to quality over the past 30 years.

This is one of my favorite places to eat inside of the Wellington Mall’s food court. This is not an establishment to patronize when looking to satisfy a craving for a traditional Philly but it still hits the spot.
The customer service here is hit or miss & generally slow. The grill station could be a bit tidier & more sanitary between customers but with them usually being busy it does lack the attention needed. The meat used is frozen, not fresh, but when all put together with the fixings of your choice the flavor speaks for itself.
My favorite dishes include the Philly cheesesteak, the buffalo chicken Philly, & the loaded fries. Don’t forget to grab a flavored lemonade. My favorite is the strawberry.
The pricing for a meal ranges around $10 which is reasonable & expected of mall food. & they offer a loyalty punch card in which you receive a free cheesesteak after you’ve purchased 8. The back of the menu receipt also offers a bonus for completing their survey: you receive a free drink & fries when you purchase a cheesesteak.
Are these authentic Philly cheesesteaks? No, but they are good. I’ve patronized Charley’s for as long as I can remember them being inside the Mall at Wellington Green food court. I am a returning customer because of the great taste & loyalty rewards program they offer.
This establishments customer service is lacking. The cashier is always friendly & attentive. However, that is where it stops. The other employees are generally too busy talking amongst themselves to attend to customer requests & needs.
I traditionally order the regular Philly cheesesteak (no onions, peppers, or mushrooms). Subs come fully loaded with mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes. Adding fries and a drink to create a combo is a little pricey. I would only recommend the traditional fries as the cheese used on the cheese/fully loaded fries is bland & lacking in flavor. They do offer a variety of fry seasonings for the traditional fries which is a treat, garlic parmesan being my favorite.
The buffalo chicken Philly is second best to the original Philly cheesesteak.

First visit so l got small size for test.
Best C/S ever…bun was outstanding, as was the steak accompanied by onions and green peppers, American cheese and dab of mayo.
Thankfully steak was not chopped up to resemble hamburger..
Lower the price and l give it 5 stars.
$6.99 small…&8.99 medium..I believe large was $10.99…..$6.99 way too high for the small. It is about the same size as a 6″ subway sandwich…
BUT……so tasty, they can charge and get away with it….Visiting Fla. For 5 weeks, just means l will return and plunk down my money…
