Curing Taste Bud Boredom Since 1988
What began in Miami as a simple recipe for citrus-marinated grilled chicken has evolved into a world of tropical flavors, and is quickly transforming into a lifestyle of happy, healthy, laid-back fun. Welcome to Pollo Tropical® where passion is married to freshness to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Our chickens are free of hormones and trans-fats. From our signature grilled chicken and slow roasted mojo pork, to world-renowned Create Your Own TropiChops®, nothing surprises and delights like our fresh-made food served in a Caribbean inspired atmosphere.
This Pollo Tropical always has a line in the drive thru but for good reason! I ordered the shredded chicken tropichop, which is new to me, and it was nice and flavorful and the avocado was nice and green and everything tasted really fresh. I also ordered the quatro leche which was a 10/10! I don’t think they make it in house because of how it’s wrapped up but it still taste very good and fresh as well.
So I saw the new offering of Vegan Tropichop and was Delighted! I had no intentions on making dinner tonight and was grumpy about scavenging the fridge for something reasonable. I was about to put in the order online when I panicked thinking what if they cook it in the same spot where they just cook some meat? That would be gross and defeat the purpose. I tried to call the restaurant but the number I had on the Maps app said that it was disconnected, weird. Anyway, I went to the restaurant on my way home from work and spoke to a manager to ease my fears. She told me that the Beyond Meat grounds are cooked separately on their own. So, again delighted I ordered a large!
I added all of the condiments that I love so much: chopped onion, jalapeños and curry mustard sauce. I couldn’t wait to get this home and in my belly! I texted this information to a friend who pointed out that their curry mustard sauce has effing egg in it. ?!???!!!! Really?!? Why?!?!!!!?! That makes no sense. I make curry mustard sauce at home with curry and mustard. Curry and mustard! Why do you have egg in curry mustard sauce?!? Of course now I have to go and look at the ingredients of my mustard. Are you really telling me that there could be egg in my mustard?
Ok: there is no egg in my mustard.
Despite this nonsense the restaurant was relatively clean, the lines moved fairly quickly and the staff was helpful. Except that at dinner rush-hour the condiment station attendant was changing out items which was a bit annoying. Not that she was cleaning things up and changing out the items but that she was doing it right then when 5 people wanted to use said condiment stand.
So did I eat the Tropichop? Yes, I did. Was it good? It was actually fairly good but I enjoyed it less because I was angry about the egg. In the future, I will use my own effing curry mustard sauce without egg.
I don’t know why the last few times I’ve gone to pollo there’s always something, it is incredibly annoying to not be acknowledged or get bad service. I put in a mobile order because I wanted to avoid being aggravated being in line, to realize my order was ready and on their counter; then why is theres “mobile pickup stand” if they aren’t going to use it? And when I’m asking the cashier he says i dont know if that’s your order?! I had to take it upon myself to look at the ticket. Then to let the manager know to use the stand so people know their orders are ready, the manager doesn’t even acknowledge me! That’s terrible service! The only reason why I don’t give this store 1 star is because the order was done when I walked in just not in the right spot, and the order was mostly right after I checked minus I asked for jalapeño through the app and after asking someone, they didn’t have any…. it would be nice to let you know as well… besides how do you run out of jalapeños by midday?! Unless your actually not even prepping them?
For fast food this is as good as it gets.
Only fast-food drive through that has a great aroma of grilled Caribbean chicken when going through the drive-through.
Staff at this location always seems pleasant and reasonably fast.
You’d think during rush hour they would move the line a lot quicker, and this location is always busy during lunch. I wanted to get something quick on the go because I was running a tight schedule. I ended up waiting in the drive thru for 15-20mins???? I think it would’ve been a lot faster for me to grab a quick lunch in a dine-in restaurant. At least the girl at the drive thru window managed to stay collected and nice even though I could clearly see that she was short handed. Food was good, I can’t ever complain about their food.
